The concept behind my speech isn’t anti-college or anything. It’s really more about greater acceptance of a variety of ways to live your life. Sure, college has non-economic benefits. I went to college, I experienced them. But it’s a chicken and egg scenario.
If more options were available besides college, then more people would choose those ways and those options would also have non-economic benefits.
I read your blog and I’m glad your wife had a good time at Clemson, but my kids have taught me quickly that their lives are going to be *their* lives. Trying to give them all the fun times I had growing up has backfired. That’s ultimately where this speech originates from.

After seeing you present it live, thanks for sharing the video — terrific tongue-in-cheek criticism and humor.

I’m mostly with you about college being overrated, but that doesn’t make it foolish to push it. What about the non-economic benefits of college?
